Cosmetics: Bright Eyeliner Video Tutorial
I am not a fan of colored eyeliner. I tend to stick with black or brown but this video tutorial has me really wanting to experiment with some colors (especially the blue used here). What do you guys think would you ever try the bright eyeliner look?

I really love the asymmetric hem on this maxi dress and the super tough details. It is amazing what leather accessories can add to a look.

What is there to be said about a classic black pump, especially one with the iconic red bottom. If you are looking to splurge on a Louboutin shoe the classic black pump or a nude pump is a must have.

The Balmain Shift
Thursday, August 25
I have never appreciated the covert sexiness that is the Shift Dress until recently. Balmain understands how to do understated sexy. The designer's version of the Shift Dress is perfection.

Style.com's Tweet Chic
Style.com has rolled out a new social media website that collects all your favorite fashionable tweeters into one place. Instead of searching twitter endlessly for your fave fashion insider, model, designer and brand you can just head to this website and have them all in one place. I think this is pretty neat as sometimes twitter searches don't always yield the results we are looking for and the who's who of fashion's most influential people are only one website feed away.

'Mad About Style: Chloe Moretz in Christopher Kane
I have mentioned before my adoration for Chloe Moretz here, but I really love her in this colorful Christopher Kane Resort 2012 number. I am loving the high-low hem and the look is not overwhelmingly mature and it suits her well.

Cosmetics: Blush + Bronzer Video Tutorial
I came across this video on Sephora's YouTube channel and found it to be very helpful. Blush and Bronzer are my everyday make-up look when I don't wanna go full on lip and eye. I have to start using the illuminating cream more it really does make the skin glow.

Culture: Garance Dore on Cultural Differences in Dieting and Dining
Friday, August 19
I love Garance Dore's blog for a number of reasons but the main one has to be that she is able to bring culture to those of us who aren't exposed to it on an everyday basis. Living in a rural city in NC doesn't really allow for me to be immersed in cultural diversity much like living in New York City or even back home in Washington DC. I truly get restless at times and often create scenarios in my head where I travel to all types of foreign places. Garance's blog serves as an escape at times. She tends to write these very personal pieces that are oftentimes translated in french (no I don't speak french) that is just so very exciting to read. In a recent post of hers New York Skinny vs Paris Skinny she talks about how the concept of diet and dining can be so different across cultures. More than anything after reading this I wanted to go to France right away and try some of the Parisian cuisine.

Designer Spotlight: CFDA Fashion Incubator Designers
The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced its second group of Fashion Incubator Designers today and the 10 emerging designers that were chosen include:
• Antonio Azzuolo (also a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist this year)
• Arielle Shapiro of Ari Dein
• Christian Cota
• Emanuela Duca
• Ricky Hendry and Marc Daniels of Isaora
• Luis M. Fernandez of Number:Lab
• Reece Solomon of Reece Hudson
• Maayan Zilberman and Nikki Dekker of The Lake & Stars
• Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein of Timo Weiland
The program was started in 2010 with the purpose of providing emerging designers with design studio space in the CFDA's garment district in an attempt to help alleviate some of the financial strain of launching a fashion house. This year the CFDA is partnering with NYU Stern Business Program to help mentor the designers and provide financial advice and education for their emerging businesses.
I am always reading about how hard it is to break into the industry and it is amazing what the CFDA does in support of its designers. Previous well known alums of the Fashion Incubator Designers' program are Prabal Gurung and Sophie Theallet. Their recent success in the industry is further proof that the program works.

Cosmetics: Bold Eye + Lip
Saturday, August 13
Blogger Keiko Lynn did a DIY post on how to achieve a bold eye + lip combo. Most make up pros will tell you that if you go bold with one then you should have a more subdued/neutral color for the other. While I agree with this generally, I think Keiko did an excellent job with the bold eye + lip combination. Head over to her website for complete step by step instructions on how she created this look.
Street Style: Monochromatic Blues
Wednesday, August 10
Caroline of Stockholm Street Style is always on trend and she doesn't miss a beat here with this A/W monochromatic look. I like how she made the trend her own and didn't go too matchy matchy, which is what this trend calls for. She broke the monochromatic look up with gray details like the shoes and purse. I also like the use of differing textures in knit, leather and suede. This monochromatic trend was huge on the runways this A/W season so stay tuned for a 'What's the Trend' post dedicated to how to pull this look off.

'Mad' About Blogs: Garance Dore
Sunday, August 7
Garance Dore is one of those 'professional' bloggers with insider access that we all envy. I love this blog because it gives a nice eclectic mix of culture, insider fashion, witty written posts as well as amazing street style photos and not to mention she is a gifted artist. So much of fashion is based in culture and Garance's blog is an excellent example of this.
